Senior Systems Engineer

In this newly created position, the The Senior Systems Engineer will lead the design, development, configuration, and engineering of unique, composite systems that will be developed from a European and North American model and template. This role is responsible for the architecture, operations, and engineering of the new ERP system. This position will also collaborate with other departments and be crucial in establishing a joint CRM system.

This is a full-time on-site position at our facility located in Barrie, Ontario.

Major Responsibilities/Activities:

  • Test interfaces, upgrades, changes, and enhancements to existing SAP systems.
  • Lead all phases of SAP projects and support implementation
  • Lead and monitor go-live activities
  • Lead and support cross-functional SAP initiatives and activities
  • Design, test and implement solutions in the new European/North American SAP model
  • Assist with cross-functional reporting operations
  • Collaborate with other team members to troubleshoot and problem solve
  • Conduct domestic and global integration tests
  • Provide onsite technical support, training and development initiatives
  • Provide leadership and mentorship to junior team member
  • Monitor the system and perform issue corrections to proactively address problems and ensure optimum performance within the system
  • Train end-users in the proper use of SAP, WMS, and other related/integrated systems
  • Respond to, troubleshoot, monitor, and diagnose application and system problems to enable the business to function optimally
  • Document changes in business processes and communicates to the core team
  • Develop and initiate production-planning schedules and job files
  • Proactively communicate across the organization issues and opportunities to ensure facility objectives are achieved
  • Lead IT Application project implementation efforts at the local level

Minimum Requirements:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree required; higher education preferred
  • 3 to 5 years of SAP experience and/or training in the field
  • Previous manufacturing experience is highly valued
  • Experience leading and managing the implementation of SAP systems
  • Have the ability to work flexible hours when required to complete necessary job assignments
  • Able to travel to support training and development
  • Able to obtain necessary Visas for travel, if required
  • Able to perform business analyses and system troubleshooting is required

Position Overview

The Manufacturing Engineering Co-op is engaged in a range of engineering assignments in relation to the development and implementation of production processing methods and controls designed to increase the overall efficiency of the plant. The incumbent will support the engineering team members in their day-to-day operations to support continued growth and efficiency of the production facility. The role is responsible for supporting the movement of engineering production related projects forward and to completion.

Responsibilities

  • Support new and existing projects from inception to completion - timing, concept, feasibility, design, specifying, construction, try-out, launch, buy-off, budget, prototype programs, and engineering changes.
  • Perform time studies as needed, develop and implement SOPs for all work areas. Update and maintain existing and future SOPs.
  • Work with the senior production team to design solutions to improve production processes, ergonomic design, and economic viability benefiting the operations of the organization.
  • Participate in equipment design reviews, equipment buy-offs, and process reviews whilst keeping in mind how they affect production and our processes.
  • Work with other Engineers to ensure that all equipment meets all of the Pre-Start Health and Safety Reviews (PSHSR) requirements.
  • Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning work flow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
  • Participate in Kaizen events and Continuous Improvement initiatives and support the implementation of lean manufacturing concepts such as 5S/Visual Management.
  • Develop and maintain plant equipment standards.
  • Participate as required in all ISO activities such as PFMEA, control plans and APQP.
  • Follow and adhere to requirements of current customer quality and environmental management systems standards.
  • Participate in the evaluation of manufacturing processes: product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling and materials: conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators
  • Assist Management Team in developing capacity plans and bottleneck analysis.
  • Work with Engineering to ensure new products/technologies conform to production capabilities.
  • Comply with all health and safety rules and regulations.
  • Model TNR core values and perform other related duties as required

Education Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in or recent graduate of degree or diploma program in Mechanical, Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering

Experience Requirements

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment an asset
  • Experience using CAD software such as AutoCAD or Solidworks an asset

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Good problem solving skills with an ability to take concept of a process and establish the equipment needed to make it happen
  • Must have strong organizational, interpersonal and communications skills
  • Ability to work independently and achieve results
  • Detail oriented
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings and knowledge of current machining methods
  • Continuously manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Strong computer skills and ability to use Microsoft Office Suite and ERP

Position Overview

The Field Services & Parts Support Student will be engaged in a range of engineering assignments in relation to the provision of technical support to customers and other internal departments via Telephone, E-mail and Microsoft Teams. In addition, the incumbent will provide support to Parts for day to day duties and projects to improve overall departmental effectiveness.

Responsibilities

  • Provides technical support for customers and TNR sales personnel to solve field issues.
  • Active day-to-day Field Service technical support, answering calls, troubleshooting, ordering parts, etc. to ensure our customers get best possible service.
  • Provides internal technical support for Engineering, Sales & Marketing.
  • Resolves warranty issues as required following established Warranty policy and process.
  • Oversees or assists with customer contracts as required, ensuring that all of their product and paper work requirements are met.
  • Accurately maintains data in internal business systems.
  • Ensures timely customer (internal and external) responses to incoming inquiries and supply requirements.
  • Processes parts orders from existing parts quotes or dealer Purchase Order, ensuring that all required information has been provided and is accurate.
  • Schedules parts orders and records and maintains order information.
  • Follows up with shipping to ensure parts orders have shipped as scheduled.
  • Follows established procedures and controls to ensure proper quality of work.
  • Periodically performs other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with company health and safety rules and regulations.

Education Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in or recent graduate of degree or diploma program in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering Technician program

Experience Requirements

  • Previous experience in sales, customer service an asset
  • Previous experience troubleshooting control circuitry and mechanical systems an asset

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Bilingual, secondary language would be an asset
  • Exceptional mechanical aptitude and problem solving abilities
  • Knowledge of relay logic, PLC’s and Frequency Inverters
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent computer and software application skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Ability to travel and support occasional overtime (as required)
